First business meeting of 2025

We open the first business meeting of 2025. Yearbooks for 2025 will be distributed. The budget for 2025 will be presented along with review of our events and activities for the year. Sign up sheets for hosts at future meetings will be circulated.
April 9
Executive Director, and founder of the Bannerman Castle trust Neil Caplin will give a presentation on Bannerman Island, a tiny jewel in the setting of the Hudson River. He will focus on the restoration of the many gardens at the site. A regular meeting will follow as we discuss plans for the cleanup at the Howland Cultural Center on May 10.

Beacon beekeeper Selma Karaca will present a program on pollinator bees and their role in assisting plants with the reproduction. Regular business meeting to follow. Plans for the third annual secret gardens of Beacon tour will be discussed.

Plans for upcoming Beacon Garden Tour will be discussed by chair Geraldine Fuller, who will seek volunteers to assist in this endeavor.

Third annual Secret Gardens of Beacon tour. The tour starts at the Howland Cultural Center at noon.
June 1-3
Federated garden clubs of New York State, annual conference and election of officers will take place at the Desmond Crowne Plaza Hotel in Albany.
July 16
Annual Member Picnic

6:00 p.m. – All members to bring a dish to share, the club will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, condiments, and beverages. officers will provide the desserts.

No Meeting. Instead there will be a field trip to a local garden to be determined by club members as the date approaches.
September 10
Regular business meeting. Requests will be made for volunteers to assist at the annual Mum Sale fundraiser on September 13 from 9am to noon, decide arrangements for Spirit of Beacon Day parade, and solicit candidates for the 2026-2027 garden club years.

Our local master gardener, Filomena Kieran returns to our club to present Gardening for Pollinators – birds, bees and butterflies. Regular business meeting to follow .

November 12
Gardens of Beacon’s Great Estates. Travel back in time to the golden age of horticulture with Denise Van Buren, President of the Beacon Historical Society and American History NYS Chair. Regular business meeting to follow. Report by the nominations and elections committee for the 2026-2027 terms of office. Sign up for holiday decorating at The Howland Cultural Center on November 18 and preparation of Christmas wreaths on November 22.

Santa’s Holiday Decorating Workshop and Christmas Party
Election of officers for 2026-2027. Dues for 2026 will be collected.

6 p.m.- Hor d’oeuvres are provided by the members. Wine and beverages will be provided by the Club. Dessert and coffee will be provided by the hosts.
The club will provide spruce, pine, and other fresh greenery, or you may bring your own to create a holiday centerpiece.
Musical entertainment will be provided by club member Diana Ferrara-Norbert.
